Understanding Water Ionizer Comparison Information Helps Purchasers

By Luke Hansen

The Earth is a dynamic water world. Most of the surface is covered by salty oceans, and without the cyclical formation of continental land masses the entire planet would be below sea level. Fresh supplies today comprises only around 2% of the total, and most must be treated before human use to avoid health issues related to impurities. Ionized water for personal use helps people avoid common physical problems, and a water ionizer comparison shows how.

Future predictions commonly warn of coming battles fought over control of local supplies. As reserves in many places become alarmingly depleted by climate change, just having enough for daily survival is becoming a realistic concern. In light of these unsettling realities, many people question the wisdom of worrying whether the H2O coming from local supplies should undergo ionization to increase alkalinity.

Critics point out that this seems to be yet another trend capitalizing on public fears. That seems like a plausible conclusion in light of the fact that purchasing an ionizer for home use costs between one and six thousand dollars, a substantial amount by almost any measure. The machines are intended to turn H2O for human consumption more alkaline, and the required equipment does not filter out impurities or chemicals.

The ionization process is alternately called electrolysis, and is related to industrial plating methods. It alters the balance of electrons. Pure water is made of hydrogen and oxygen atoms linked together in a network, and the electron balance is regulated naturally in a process of exchange. This back-and-forth flow evens the numbers of positive and negative electrons, and the result is relatively even distribution.

Most tap water is scientifically considered to be neutral. The reaction that occurs during ionization alters that stasis, changing the pH, or acid-alkaline balance. If that number is greater than seven, the liquid is considered beneficially alkaline. If lowered, it becomes more acidic. While these difference are quite small when measured, advocates of ionization strongly believe that they have an important impact on health.

Although there are currently no authoritative studies proving those claims, many strongly believe that the extra mineral content common to acidic waters are not just undesirable, but can actually impair digestion and become a barrier to nutrient absorption in the colon. Related molecular changes can also make complete hydration difficult. Beneficial free radicals are also blocked, losing their ability to provide protection against certain illnesses.

When electrolytic treatment increases the alkalinity, it said to aid digestion, while helping eliminate free radicals to better ward off so-called lifestyle diseases such as diabetes. The hydration qualities of alkaline water are thought to be superior, making it easier for the body to absorb minerals such as sodium, magnesium, potassium, and calcium. Some people believe that it actually feels far more appealing in the mouth.

For many advocates, the resulting body detoxification is more complete when hydrating using an ionized product. There are indications that it may provide benefits to the human immune system, and can create a superior barrier to the environmental chemicals present everywhere. Signs of aging may diminished by drinking from a supply that helps eliminate toxins, thus reducing the amount of cell damage.

Home devices normally are installed in the same general area as the main kitchen sink. When they require direct connection to the primary main, a plumber may be required to do the work. The process depends on electricity, and there must be a safely wired connection nearby. Do-it-yourself installation is not difficult for those with experience, but most people feel more comfortable with professional guidance.

Each device uses one of three primary electrolytic plate models. Flat, smooth plates last he longest, and are least likely to suffer from excess calcium deposits. More economical mesh plating uses less metal, but because the liquid flows through multiple openings, the opportunity for mineral buildup is greater. Slotted plates are a combination of flat and mesh, and cost less.

There are several brand name choices available to consumers, but potential buyers should take the time to educate themselves prior to making a final choice. Interior construction is important, but so is good warranty coverage. Replacement parts should be compatible, and readily available when the need arises. A good ionizer is a comparatively substantial purchase, and with care should provide good benefits for several years.
