By Eloise Hewitt

Pain or discomfort in necks has somewhat been a common problem but there are ways of prevention and remedy which you can use. These tips are even simple. They would start with maintaining the appropriate posture to keep your weight at even distribution.

There are also some things you can make for yourself. An example would be a lavender heated neck wrap. This is great in relieving tension and stress in your muscles.

The next thing that you can do is to get yourself a chair which is better and it would be best if you would get something that will support your posture. It should encourage you to always be in a good position and at the same time discourage you to sit while hunching over. The latter is the kind that will cause you the pain you want to prevent.

Moreover, if your work would involve having you to sit several hours a day in front of a computer, there is a tendency that your body would stiffen up. This is also true for those you will have to take long plane or bus rides which can result to a nagging pain. To prevent this from happening you can have gentle stretching after every hour in order to loosen your muscles.

One more move you can actually do in order to gain relief is to especially to a sudden pain is by simply placing an ice pack. Keep it in place for ten up to fifteen minutes every two hours or maybe three hours within the first two days. Be sure you wrap it first with a cloth and do not directly place in on your skin.

There would also be another treatment that should follow this and that would be the heat therapy which you can do after two days. The simplest way to accomplish this is by simply standing under your shower but you may also get some heat pads or microwavable packs. Moreover, there are still those commercial packs which are disposable but are useful for several hours.

It would also be helpful if you would do a gentle massage on the area as it is very effective in reducing discomfort. There are even showers which already have massage setting on them or you may hire a therapist. There are also relief creams which you can rub while having the massage.

If the condition is something that is very severe and the above tips would not help, you may take some over the counter medications such as paracetamol, aspirin or ibuprofen. But ensure that you will take the right dosage as indicated by the label. If this will not work, insist on seeing your doctor.

Furthermore, your mattress should be firm if possible and not the soft one because this will only worsen the condition up to your spine. The springs must also be checked for a time and again since they can be broken over a period. There are also some exercise that can make your neck muscles stronger.
